The Indianapolis Colts will be training in Anderson through the year 2016. The city and the Colts signed a new agreement today, keeping the NFL training camp in Anderson for the next five years. City officials say last year’s camp brought eighty-five thousand visitors to the city. Economic Development Director Linda Dawson says the city is benefiting from more than just the camp’s visitors.
Because Indianapolis hosts the 2012 Super Bowl, Dawson thinks the Colts camp may be an even bigger draw next year. Anderson was home to the Colts’ training camp from 1984 – 1998. The team moved to Terre Haute for several years, and returned to Anderson in 2010. Colts coach Jim Caldwell says Anderson has done well as the camp’s host.
