Indiana working on federally-mandated health care exchange system

Indiana is moving to create a health care exchange system required by the federal affordable health care act.  Family and Social Services representative Seema Verma is spearheading Indiana’s compliance with the federal law.  She says the system should be an informative tool for consumers and businesses.  The state has a number of models it can use, but a health care exchange must be set up before 2013.

Verma says the state is proceeding with its plans as if the health care act will be upheld by the courts… even though Indiana is part of one of the lawsuits challenging the federal law.
