Indiana agency anticipates state foreclosures to increase

The state of Indiana now ranks eighth in the nation for the number of foreclosures, and a state agency says even more Hoosiers are filing for foreclosure this year.  The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority says it anticipates between 40,000 and 50,000 new foreclosure filings this year.  Asset Preservation Director Stephanie Reeve attributes the spike to national economic trends now hitting at the state level.

The organization encourages families facing foreclosure to use free state- and federally-funded consulting services to help with paperwork and payment agreements.
