Next year, Delaware County voters will decide whether or not they want to consolidate their units of government. Delaware County Commissioners and the Muncie City Council voted for an amended plan to merge some government operations. If approved by a two-thirds majority vote on the 2012 ballot, the consolidation proposal would eliminate the positions of Muncie mayor, county commissioners, and city and county councils in exchange for a 14-person council and a county representative.
