(INDIANAPOLIS) – DAN WHELDON‘S SHARE OF THE INDIANAPOLIS 500 WINNINGS COME TO TWO-POINT-56 MILLION DOLLARS. THE OVERALL PURSE WAS 13-POINT-FIVE MILLION IN THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY RACE ON SUNDAY, WHICH WHELDON WON IN THE LAST FEW HUNDRED YARDS WHEN LEADER J.R. HILDEBRAND SLAMMED INTO THE WALL COMING OUT OF TURN FOUR. HILDEBRAND WAS NOT INJURED. HE AND HIS CAR SKIDDED ACROSS THE FINISH LINE IN SECOND PLACE, GOOD FOR A $1 MILLION, INDY 500 PAYCHECK.
