Severe thunderstorms produced golf-ball-sized hail for a brief period on Muncie’s northwest side, this (Tues.) afternoon as tornado warnings were issued for northern Madison and Delaware counties. The large hail did not last long and was outpopulated by smaller hailstones, then heavy rain. No tornadoes were reported. National Weather Service radar indicated a storm capable of producing a tornado was moving from Madison county into northern Delaware county. Thunderstorm warnings were issued for a number of IPR counties as warm, moist air moved in from the south. Most of the IPR listening area is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Stay tuned to IPR for the latest weather information.
