Governor Mitch Daniels this morning officially signed two parts of his education agenda into law. One bill expands charter schools, and the other allows for school vouchers – which Daniels says will enable low-income families to send their students to private schools. Indianapolis parent Randy Duke spoke at the ceremony and thanked lawmakers for passing the education reform measures.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett says he hopes to have the vouchers program up and running by the start of the next school year.
