Indiana House Democrats are returning to the Statehouse tonight. House Speaker Brian Bosma says he spoke with Minority Leader Pat Bauer just before taking the podium for roll call today. Bauer told him the Democrats would return to conduct business by 5 o’clock.
Bauer, speaking from his car on the way back to Indiana, says Democrats feel there are enough concessions to return for now.
Bauer says educating the public on the Republican agenda made the walkout worth the effort. Meanwhile, Bosma says it will take an extraordinary effort to complete all legislative business before the end of the session, making a special session more likely.
