ISU Considering Its Own Teacher Performance Compensation Model

Indiana State University is considering implementing a faculty evaluation system that the school’s provost says will connect more effectively compensation to performance.

The school’s website says ISU trustees heard last Friday details of the new performance evaluation system. The system was developed after two years of discussions involving faculty committees, the Faculty Senate, and administrators.

Indiana State’s provost, Jack Maynard, says the new system will enable the university to better assess and acknowledge the work of faculty while also identifying those whose performance is not acceptable and in need of additional support.

The new evaluation model calls for more than 85 percent of funds set aside for salary adjustments to go to faculty who are performing at or above expectations.
