Nearby Borders Book Stores Closing

SIX INDIANA BORDER‘S STORES WILL BE CLOSING THEIR DOORS AFTER THE COMPANY FILED FOR CHAPTER 11 BANKRUPTCY THIS WEEK. OUTSIDE OF THE DOWNTOWN INDIANAPOLIS LOCATION, EVERYONE WAS SAD OR DISAPPOINTED TO HEAR THE NEWS. STORES IN CARMEL, WEST LAFAYETTE, EVANSVILLE, MERRILLVILLE AND MISHAWAKA WILL ALSO SHUT THEIR DOORS. THE COMPANY SAYS THEY TRIED TO AVOID THE MOVE BUT GROWING COMPETITION FROM ONLINE RETAILERS AND NEW TECHNOLOGY LIKE KINDLES MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE. PEOPLE DOWNTOWN SAY THEY STILL SEE A NEED FOR A RETAIL STORE LIKE BORDERS AND WERE SURPRISED THAT OTHER LOCATIONS ARE STAYING OPEN. FOUR BORDERS IN INDIANAPOLIS WILL STAY OPEN, AS WELL AS STORES IN NOBLESVILLE, FORT WAYNE AND HIGHLAND.
