New state tax credit for school scholarship donations

The Indiana Department of Revenue says Hoosiers who donate to organizations that give school scholarships can reclaim half of their donation with a new tax credit.  Stephanie McFarland is the agency’s spokesperson.

McFarland on New Credit

McFarland says all donations used for scholarships are eligible. But the state is only allowed to re-credit two and a half million dollars in total per year.  McFarland also says that Hoosiers will have three extra days to file their state and federal taxes this year.  Because of the Washington, DC-observed Emancipation Day on April 15th that will close federal offices, this year’s tax deadline will be Monday, April 18th.
