Ball State Football Cardinals to Play Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium

Ball State has signed a contract to play its first football game of the 2011 season at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It will also be the first game for new Ball State head coach Pete Lembo.

The September 3rd game against Indiana will count as a Ball State home game. The Star Press reports tickets will average $40 each. Ball State students will be admitted free.

Ball State athletics officials say the game will be good for the Cardinal football team, will help stir support from Ball State alumni in Indianapolis, and haul in more money than can be generated at Scheumann Stadium. Critics say the Cards’ home-field advantage will disappear at Lucas Oil stadium, and that Ball State student fans will lose a home-stadium game experience in the rare appearance of a Big Ten team at Scheumann Stadium.
