Vote Center Vote

(STATEHOUSE) – THE FIRST BILL OF THE 2011 LEGISLATIVE SESSION IS ON ITS WAY TO GOVERNOR DANIELS. THE HOUSE VOTED 68-28 TO AUTHORIZE ALL COUNTIES TO REPLACE PRECINCT-BASED VOTING WITH CENTRALIZED “VOTE CENTERS.” CASS, TIPPECANOE AND WAYNE COUNTIES HAVE USED VOTE CENTERS FOR THE LAST SEVERAL ELECTIONS, UNDER A PILOT PROJECT WHICH EXPIRED AT THE END OF 2010. IF SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR, THE BILL WOULD LET ANY COUNTY ADOPT THE IDEA BY UNANIMOUS VOTE OF THE LOCAL ELECTION BOARD.
