Following talks with members of the military and the state’s 92 emergency management directors, Governor Mitch Daniels and Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman have decided the state’s business will continue on Tuesday, even as a severe winter storm blows into Indiana. Skillman says some National Guard troops will be deployed in anticipation of Hoosiers needing help. Daniels says what concerns him most is that many forecasts include heavy ice accumulation.
Daniels says he’ll monitor the weather on a day-to-day basis, but currently has no plans to shut down the Statehouse or any state agency.
