NIPSCO Reduces Rate Increase Request

(MERRILLVILLE) – A PLANNED ELECTRIC RATE HIKE FOR NIPSCO CUSTOMERS MAY NOT BE AS MUCH AS ANTICIPATED. THE UTILITY IS ASKING THE INDIANA UTILITY REGULATORY COMMISSION TO DISMISS ONE OF TWO PENDING RATE HIKES.

THE DISMISSAL WILL REDUCE THE INCREASE FROM 16.8 PERCENT TO 7.9 PERCENT. THE RATE CHANGES ARE DUE TO TAKE EFFECT IN LATE 2011 OR EARLY 2012.
