Dr. King Day Closings

Today is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  It is a day for reflection on the life of the slain civil rights leader, and for public service.

Numerous gatherings and cultural events are scheduled for today.  Among them, is a Martin Luther King Jr. Unity March. It starts today at 4 p.m. at the Ball State Multicultural Center,  at 325 N. McKinley Ave.

The day is also a national holiday.

All federal offices are closed.

All state offices are closed.

License branches are closed.  Branches are usually closed on Mondays.

According to the Star Press, City offices in Muncie, New Castle, Montpelier and Parker City will be closed. Those in Dunkirk, Hartford City, Portland and Winchester will be open.

County offices and courts in Blackford, Delaware, and Henry counties and town halls in Daleville, Gaston and Yorktown will be closed.  County offices and courts in Jay and Randolph counties and town halls in Albany and Eaton will be open.

The post office is closed.  Only express mail will be delivered.

All financial institutions are closed.

Trash collection in Hartford City, Muncie, New Castle and all Best Way of Indiana Inc. routes will run as usual.
