Freshman Jesse Berry picked a good time to light up the scoreboard.
Berry popped in 15 points and was 4-of-5 from 3-point territory to lead Ball State to a 72-63 win over Western Michigan, last night (Wed.) at Worthen Arena. Muncie’s Jauwan Scaife scored 14 points and Jarrod Jones notched 12 for the Cards.
Western Michigan’s Broncos bolted out of the starting gate to take a 10-2 lead, but the Cardinals answered with stifling defense and a 27-5 run, taking a 38-26 lead to the locker room at halftime. The Broncos narrowed the lead to six points in the second half, but got no closer.
Ball State is now 10-and-4 overall, and 2-and-0 atop the Mid-American Conference West Division standings.
Next up: A Saturday double-header at Worthen Arena with Central Michigan. The men tip off at 2 p.m. The women’s teams play at approximately 4 p.m.
