State representative wants to cut state lawmaker pay increase

One Indiana representative wants all Hoosier lawmakers to forego a pay increase during the next two-year state budget.  Currently, all Hoosier state legislators get automatic pay increases, after a bill added it to pay increases for judges several years ago.  But Representative Suzanne Crouch of Evansville wants to temporarily suspend the legislative pay provision.  Crouch says lawmakers shouldn’t take more money while cutting services for needy Hoosiers.  She says she doesn’t know how much money the move would save in the next state budget.  And she’s not sure how many other lawmakers will support her proposal.
