Former Anderson city employee accuses mayor of sexual harassment

A former Anderson city employee is accusing Mayor Kris Ockomon of sexual harassment and retaliation.  The Herald Bulletin has published a complaint from Teresa Spencer, a former mayor’s office and parks department employee.  It was submitted to the Indiana Civil Rights Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on December 31, 2009 and alleges the misconduct began in late 2007, before Ockomon was sworn in as mayor.  Spencer and her attorney could not be reached for comment.  In a written statement given to the media this afternoon, Ockomon denied the allegations.  He said, “I have never engaged in any behavior with any person which could in any way be remotely construed as sexual harassment.”  Ockomon said the city will not comment further.  Ockomon has not yet announced whether he will run for re-election as Anderson’s mayor.
