Hoosier Environmental Council at Statehouse on Saturday

The Hoosier Environmental Council will be hosting its third annual “Greening the Statehouse” event tomorrow in Indianapolis.   The group wants to inspire ordinary people, lawmakers, and green businesses to get involved and promote environmental policy … which they say leads more and more to economic development and jobs.  This year, the council will present an award to Ball State University for its geothermal project – the largest of its kind in the nation.  Bloomington mayor Mark Kruzan will be named “Elected Official of the Year” for his quote “courageous stand on I-69.”  And Executive Director Jesse Kharbanda says they will also recognize an unusual recipient this year.

The council’s legislative priorities for the year are green energy, public transportation, and sustainable agriculture.
