Ball State University will soon be home to a national summer camp for instrumental music students. The Music For All Summer Symposium is scheduled for June 2011… and will continue to stay at the Muncie university through at least 2015. Funded by instrument maker Yamaha, Music For All brings music students from around the country together to study various types of music – from jazz to orchestra to marching band. High school and middle school teachers also come for professional development. Music For All officials say they estimate 1,600 students and teachers will attend. Michael Hicks, with the Ball State Center for Business and Economic Research, says the summer camp will bring more than $2 million annually to Muncie and the surrounding area.
