It’s time for Ball State University’s athletic teams to be recertified by the NCAA for Division I play. The recertification process is required of all colleges and universities who participate in NCAA sports. Recertification happens every ten years. A committee of Ball State administration, faculty, and staff will spend a year looking at athletes and their academic integrity and well-being. The committee will also make sure Ball State complies with NCAA rules and gender and diversity standards. After the committee’s year-long study, NCAA officials will visit Ball State, review the study, and make a public announcement about the school’s recertification. Nineteen Ball State teams compete in NCAA Division I athletics – seven men’s teams and twelve women’s teams.
