Hoosiers can begin filing for extended unemployment benefits on Tuesday, August 3rd, according to the state’s Department of Workforce Development. A recently passed federal law extends unemployment benefits for people out of work for six months or more. The office estimates the new federal law will give benefits to about eighty thousand Hoosiers. Commissioner Mark Everson says WorkOne Centers around the state will stay open extra hours between August 3rd and 6th to help those filing for federally-funded benefits.
